rf engineering

I worked on radio transmitter receivers early in my career (I actually majored this field). RF engineering is widely regarded as “black magic” in the electrical engineering world, because at high frequencies, a lot of assumptions about power, voltage, current, resistance, and impedance change and are highly dependent on seemingly arbitrary design decisions.

I often joked to my friends that RF engineers were essentially the plumbers of electrical engineers. Whereas digital designers put together blocks to execute logic and/or processing (the brains of the electrical system if you will), RF engineers have one job and one job only -try make sure ejection signal goes where you want it to go and maintain the power (water flow) through the pipe.
